In a recent interview, popular author and former actress Twinkle Khanna has revealed that her journey into films was not driven by passion, but by practicality. Twinkle, who is known for her quick wit and honest take on life, made her debut in 1995 with the film 'Barsaat' co-starring Bobby Deol. However, she soon quit acting after her 2000 film 'Mela' flopped, and then got married to Akshay Kumar.
Twinkle has now shared that she never actually wanted to become an actress. She explained that she took up acting to support her mother, Dimple Kapadia, who was raising the family on her own as a single parent. "I know for you it was a choice, but for me, I really didn't want to become an actress. It was out of necessity, I had a single mom and she was providing for everyone," Twinkle revealed in a chat with Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Interestingly, Akshay Kumar has also shared that Twinkle had told him she would accept his proposal and marry him if 'Mela' flopped. This suggests that Twinkle was already planning to quit acting even before the film's release. Since then, Twinkle has successfully transitioned into a bestselling author, known for her witty and relatable writing.
