Twilight Director Recalls Surprise Dance Tribute from Cast

In October 2025, director Bill Condon, who helmed the final two Twilight movies, revealed a delightful behind-the-scenes story from the iconic franchise. While speaking at the New York City premiere of his new movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Condon reminisced about his time working on the Twilight series.

Condon directed Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and Breaking Dawn - Part 2, the concluding chapters of the beloved vampire love story. He recalls filming "that big battle" scene in the final movie, which took nearly a month to shoot. During this time, the entire cast, which consisted of "dozens of great actors," surprised Condon with a choreographed dance number.

"Suddenly the speaker started, and there was music from West Side Story, and they all had created a dance for me because they knew I love musicals, and that's something I'll never forget," Condon said. The Twilight series, based on Stephenie Meyer's book saga, featured a star-studded ensemble, including Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner.

Condon also recently discussed the controversial decision to kill off multiple beloved vampire and werewolf characters in a vision sequence in Breaking Dawn - Part 2. He acknowledged the "dedicated audience" and the "incredibly cruel thing" of eliminating their favorite characters, but felt it was necessary to stay true to the story.
