Love After 50: Millions, Lies, and a Second Chance

A new Swedish-Croatian romantic comedy, tentatively titled "True Love," is set to explore the complexities of love and trust for individuals over 50. The film stars Frida Hallgren as Ellinor, who, after two decades of marriage, is left by her husband. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she unexpectedly wins €40 million, making it even harder for her to place her trust in anyone.

Adding to the intricate plot, Ellinor meets Henrik, portrayed by Kristofer Hivju. Henrik, having grown up in an elite boarding school environment, learned the art of deception to fit in. Despite their seemingly incompatible backgrounds and penchant for dishonesty, the narrative questions whether they might be exactly what the other needs.

Directed by Martina Haag, "True Love" is described as featuring "real people in exaggerated situations." Both lead actors were chosen for their ability to convey warmth and relatability, seamlessly shifting between humor and sensitivity. The film's producer, Helen Ahlsson, highlighted that Hivju will be seen in a new light as a romantic lead.

Filming is scheduled to commence on October 8 and is slated for delivery in fall 2027. The production is a co-venture between SF Studios, Kinorama, SVT, and NRK, with support from various Swedish and Croatian film institutes and incentives. Global sales will be discussed at the New Nordic Films market in Haugesund, Norway.
