12 Oct
Summary
- Tron: Ares opens to $33.5 million domestically, $60.5 million globally
- One Battle After Another earns $6.6 million domestically, $21.6 million globally
- Tron's $180 million budget could exceed $220 million with marketing costs

On the weekend of October 12, 2025, the sci-fi film Tron: Ares, directed by Joachim Rønning, easily topped the box office charts, but its performance was far from rewarding. The film, which features an impressive ensemble cast including Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Jodie-Turner Smith, Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges, earned $33.5 million domestically and $60.5 million globally.
While Tron: Ares more than tripled the earnings of the next-best performing film, One Battle After Another, the latter's $6.6 million domestic and $21.6 million global haul was a success, considering its estimated $17 million-$19 million budget. In contrast, Tron's $180 million budget could easily exceed $220 million when marketing costs are factored in, putting the film's financial viability in jeopardy.
Elsewhere on the charts, the fantasy musical Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie earned $3.3 million domestically and $10.5 million globally, while the biopic Soul on Fire and the indie films If I Had Legs I'd Kick You and After The Hunt also found modest success. However, the operatic reimagining of Kiss of the Spider Woman had a disastrous opening, earning just $918,000 despite a decent publicity push.
