4 Aug
Summary
- Nationwide UK tour canceled because of insufficient ticket sales.
- West End leg concludes September 5th, further shows unavailable.
- Edinburgh shows only achieved 19% ticket sales, indicating dire performance.

The nationwide UK tour of 'Trainspotting: The Musical' has been canceled due to low ticket sales, failing to capture audience interest. The production announced the cancellation, with scheduled tour stops removed from venue websites. Following its London run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, which concludes on September 5th, all subsequent tour dates have been made unavailable.
Performer and resident director Keiran Brown revealed the cancellation on Facebook, citing poor sales, with Edinburgh shows achieving only 19% of ticket sales. He attributed the cancellation to the current economic climate impacting ticket sales. Ticket holders will be refunded through their original point of purchase.
The musical, based on Irvine Welsh's novel, premiered in July 2026. The canceled tour was scheduled to include performances in Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Manchester. The original novel was famously adapted into a hit film in 1996, with a sequel released in 2017.
