However, Menassian is found dead, and evidence suggests the killings are connected to Emile Lang, a contract killer believed to be dead for five years.

The trail leads Colter and retired detective Keaton to Emile Lang, who is revealed to be alive and involved in the murders. Lang is implicated in abducting and torturing Nat Dobbs, the man investigating the farm, and killing Menassian. Further investigation reveals Lang was seeking information about Cassie Lindstrom, the same police officer he allegedly murdered years prior.
