The Ganeshotsava Trust Committee in T'puram is organizing the annual Ganeshotsava procession and idol immersion today, marking the end of celebrations that commenced on September 8. The city anticipates the immersion of Ganesh idols from 1,208 centers and more than two lakh homes across the district. These idols will be gathered at the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple by 3 pm.

A cultural meeting, inaugurated by transport minister C.P. John at 4 pm, will precede the main procession starting from East Fort. Around 2,000 artists are set to perform traditional percussion and cultural programs. The procession will feature idols representing 32 forms and eight incarnations of Lord Ganesh, traversing through key city routes before concluding at Shanghumugham.

Idols from various committees, associations, temples, ashrams, and cultural organizations will join the procession. A 'Sarva Vighna Nivarana Yajna', involving the offering of 10,008 coconuts, will precede the immersion of idols in the sea at Shanghumugham Arattu Mandapam.

To manage the event, police have imposed traffic and parking restrictions from 2 pm to 9 pm along the procession route and connecting roads. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, and those traveling to the domestic airport should avoid the All Saints-Shanghumugham road.
