The classic Troma Entertainment franchise gets a reboot with The Toxic Avenger, featuring significantly improved production values and a surprising ensemble cast. Peter Dinklage takes the lead role as Winston Gooze, a chemical factory janitor who undergoes a toxic transformation into a superhero. The film also boasts notable performances from Kevin Bacon as a villainous CEO and Elijah Wood as his henchman.
Critics have highlighted the movie's intense gore, with plenty of "decapitation, limb-lopping and disembowelment." However, it's also praised for its continuous stream of humor and visual gags. The unrated cut of The Toxic Avenger is now available for purchase on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD.
Accompanying the release are numerous bonus materials, including director's commentary and over 80 minutes of featurettes, plus a San Diego Comic-Con panel. To celebrate the release, five Blu-ray copies are being given away in a competition specifically open to UK entrants.
