- Tom Cruise will first complete 'Days of Thunder' sequel.
Top Gun 3 is officially in the works at Paramount, according to recent announcements. Actor Miles Teller has shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating that "everybody's really excited" to reprise their roles. However, he indicated that production will likely begin after Tom Cruise completes his next film, a sequel to 'Days of Thunder'.
Teller described Tom Cruise as a mentor and expressed appreciation for his continued involvement and support. Cruise himself had previously teased that he was "working on" another Top Gun movie. The highly successful sequel, 'Top Gun: Maverick,' released in 2022, surpassed $1.4 billion worldwide and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
Co-writer Christopher McQuarrie confirmed in May that he and Ehren Kruger have already developed the story for the third installment. This news follows Paramount's official announcement at Cinemacon in April that Top Gun 3 is moving forward.
