The Season 24 premiere of NCIS featured the unexpected return of Tony DiNozzo, portrayed by Michael Weatherly, who rejoined the team.
DiNozzo reappeared with an arm injury, revealing he was shot by McGee's son, Mateo, during a standoff. Tony had been investigating a case after being alerted by a hacker. He is currently establishing a satellite office for his security firm, Salus Mondiale, in Washington D.C., while his daughter Tali attends boarding school in Boston, where Ziva works nearby.
La Roche has assumed the role of the new NCIS director. His first official action was to order the team to leave the building as the investigation now involves McGee's son. Tony expressed nostalgia upon seeing the familiar orange walls of the NCIS office.
