Author's Film Adaptation Nightmare: Left Sobbing

Author Tomi Adeyemi has expressed severe distress over the film adaptation of her novel, "Children of Blood and Bone." Adeyemi described leaving the movie set, which filmed in South Africa and the Canary Islands, in a state of "hyperventilating and sobbing." She characterized the entire experience of bringing the adaptation to life as "the worst thing I've ever had to live through."

Despite initial excitement for her debut novel to be adapted, Adeyemi now alleges ongoing antagonism behind the scenes. In a recent TikTok, she stated her intention to speak only about her experiences after leaving the set of her own film adaptation, highlighting the profound emotional toll it has taken. The author also alluded to further suffering endured during the creation of the young adult trilogy itself.
