Eight years after his last full solo studio album, Tom Misch has unveiled 'Full Circle.' This release signifies a deliberate return after the artist withdrew from the overwhelming demands of his solo career to prioritize his mental health. Misch described this period as a necessity, leading him to step away from London for experiences like learning to surf in Cornwall and engaging in part-time work, which helped him reconnect with himself.
The new album's sound is influenced by artists like Neil Young and James Taylor, featuring folk-tinged songs that prioritize lyrical honesty and stripped-back instrumentation. This approach contrasts with his previous work, where production could sometimes mask the lyrical content. Misch sought to create something deeply human and personal, a response to the increasing pressures of the music industry and the rise of AI.
Misch also collaborated with producers Matt Maltese and Ian Fitchuk, and journeyed to Rio de Janeiro to work on Marcos Valle's upcoming album. He is set to perform at London's KOKO theatre starting April 1, with a renewed focus on enjoying the experience rather than setting rigid career expectations.
