Tom Holland shared his experience preparing for a shirtless scene in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," admitting he attempted an extreme dehydration technique. This involved not drinking water for a day, then consuming large amounts beforehand, a method he found only led to grumpiness and made little difference. One key scene involves Yelena's 'office,' a Russian bathhouse, where she questions Spider-Man. During this interaction, Peter Parker is asked to strip, revealing his underwear and mask. Holland noted that his costars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon were not present for filming, which would have added a peculiar element.

The movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, sees Peter Parker dealing with a world that has forgotten him, compounded by the death of his aunt and a subsequent mutation affecting his abilities. This personal crisis coincides with the rise of a new adversary employing mind control, revealed to be Jean Grey, who targets the government organization Damage Control.
