25 May
Summary
- Actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Shantilal Mukherjee named in a complaint.
- Allegations of misuse of dominant position and anti-competitive practices.
- Producer claims repeated stalling of film shoots by industry bodies.

A complaint has been filed with the Competition Commission of India, naming prominent actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Shantilal Mukherjee. The case, brought by the producer of 'Kone Dekha Alo', also includes office-bearers of the Artists' Forum and its executive committee members. It alleges a deliberate misuse of dominant market position and anti-competitive practices within Tollywood.
Producer Arka Ganguly claims that a "boycott" was announced against his company, Organinc Studios Private Ltd, in April. This action allegedly aimed to sabotage independent producers for business advantage. Ganguly asserted this was the fourth instance in the past year where shooting schedules were disrupted by the Forum or the Federation. Attempts were reportedly made to transfer the production contract of 'KDA' to rival houses.
Reacting to the news, Prosenjit Chatterjee, who was in Delhi to receive his Padma Shri, stated he had no knowledge of the case. The dispute reportedly escalated following the death of actor Rahul Banerjee. At that time, joint announcements were made by the Forum, Federation, and Eastern India Motion Pictures Association regarding their stance on working with specific production houses.
