The 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, running October 26-November 4, presents a rich array of cultural programs. This collaboration with the National Film Archive of Japan screens restored prints from October 27 to November 1.
A forward-looking symposium on October 30 at TIFFCOM will explore the potential launch of a new international anime award in 2027, with industry leaders discussing its feasibility. The festival also marks the 10th anniversary of its Teens Cinema Workshop, a program that offers filmmaking training to secondary students. This celebration will include past mentors and a special event on November 3.
Further educational initiatives include the fourth TIFF International Symposium on Film Education on October 31, focusing on developing educators and support for film education. The Teens Cinema Workshop has also updated its schedule, moving from August to March annually, with a new companion program, TIFF Teens Cine Club, planned.
