In a surprising development, screenwriter Mattson Tomlin has revealed his interest in writing a Spider-Man 4 starring Tobey Maguire. Tomlin, who co-wrote the upcoming The Batman: Part II, believes there is potential in exploring Maguire's Spider-Man as a devoted family man.
Maguire first donned the iconic red-and-blue suit in Sam Raimi's 2002 blockbuster Spider-Man, going on to reprise the role in two sequels in 2004 and 2007. While plans for a fourth installment never materialized, Maguire did make a cameo appearance in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, which featured all three live-action Spider-Men.
Now, Tomlin has expressed his desire to see Maguire's Spider-Man navigate the challenges of being a husband and father. "Honestly right now my main interest in this respect would be to write a Spider-Man 4 where Tobey's Spider-Man is juggling being a husband and a father," the screenwriter revealed on Twitter.

While Tomlin acknowledges that bringing such a project to fruition would involve "a lot of people and politics," he remains optimistic, stating that he hasn't received a definitive "no" yet. Fans of Maguire's Spider-Man will undoubtedly be eager to see if this idea gains traction and potentially leads to the long-awaited return of the beloved web-slinger.
