- Gautam Adhikari directed 1,700 episodes, a record holder.
The chairman of SAB Television Network Ltd. discussed the parallels between "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's" Jethalal-Babita storyline and the 1990s sitcom "Shrimaan Shrimati." He acknowledged potential inspiration but argued that a man's attraction to a married neighbor is a universally relatable theme, akin to 'the grass is always greener,' and should not be deemed a copy. He emphasized the importance of maintaining character boundaries, a practice he believes both shows adhere to.
Furthermore, the discussion touched upon a remarkable achievement by the late media pioneer Gautam Adhikari, Ravi Adhikari's father. Gautam Adhikari holds a record in the Limca Book of Records for directing 1,700 television episodes. He achieved this feat in approximately 17 active years of his career, directing nearly two episodes weekly on average, a record that remains unbroken.
