Pophouse Entertainment Group AB has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in the publishing rights and recordings of the legendary rock icon Tina Turner. This significant deal encompasses not only her celebrated musical works spanning over five decades but also her name, image, and likeness. The seller, BMG Rights Management GmbH, will retain a minority ownership in the acquired assets.
Tina Turner's illustrious career saw her sell in excess of 100 million records globally, cementing her status as one of history's best-selling artists. Pophouse's investment head noted the epic nature of her catalog and her incredible life story, marked by both challenges and triumphs.
This acquisition marks Pophouse's fifth major artist catalog purchase, following investments in artists like KISS, Cyndi Lauper, Avicii, and Swedish House Mafia. The firm's strategy involves increasing the value of these back catalogs by developing immersive music experiences and biographical productions, building on the success of their ABBA Voyage show.
