TikTok Tackles Original Series with New Romance Drama

TikTok is venturing further into the realm of original scripted vertical dramas, a genre that has recently gained traction on the platform. The social media giant is set to launch a new romantic drama, a significant step in its original content strategy. The series features Sam Morgan, known for his roles in various vertical dramas, and Vanessa Von Schwarz.

Morgan will portray Andre Voss-Emerson, a wealthy Silicon Valley figure who harbors a long-standing unrequited love for Clara Murphy, played by Von Schwarz. The narrative takes a turn when Clara reappears in Andre's life, forcing him to confront his feelings and make a crucial decision. This romantic entanglement forms the core of the upcoming production.

Produced by 24K Onions, a company founded by Chinese filmmakers Yang Bohan and Sun Tianze, the series is a collaborative effort with TikTok, which will also serve as the distributor. Notably, this original drama will be available for free, differentiating it from many other paywalled vertical series on the platform. It will premiere in a newly established originals section within the TikTok app, signaling TikTok's growing investment in original programming.
