TikTok creator Jerry Stephens, who gained significant attention for his plea to live long enough to play Grand Theft Auto VI, died on October 29, 2026. Stephens, who was 25, succumbed to a severe interstitial lung disease after his lungs filled with blood due to a 'horrible infection'.
Earlier this year, gaming fans worldwide rallied behind Stephens, raising more than Rs 94 lakh for a lung transplant. This fundraising effort aimed to extend his life so he could experience the release of GTA VI, which was slated for November 19, 2026. His sister, Paris, shared the news, expressing gratitude for the support that made his final months 'beautiful'.
Stephens had been active on social media since 2022, sharing music and gaming content, and had spoken extensively about his deteriorating health in August. He had expressed nervousness about asking for donations but ultimately sought help for his recovery. The family plans to hold a balloon release event for his supporters.
