- Several Primetime shows from 2025 festival saw increased sales

In the lead-up to the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the festival's organizers have announced plans to significantly expand their Primetime TV programming. According to TIFF executives Judy Lung and Geoff Macnaughton, the Primetime section will grow by 40% next year, featuring approximately 14 series.
This expansion comes as TIFF prepares to launch its own content market, TIFF The Market, in September 2026. The new market will span TV, film, and next-generation content, solidifying TIFF's commitment to supporting the global entertainment industry. "This vision for the future is centered around a commitment to deepening TIFF's support of the global entertainment business, including the launch of an official content market at the Festival next September," said Lung.
Macnaughton also noted that several of the Primetime shows featured at the 2025 TIFF festival saw a surge in sales after their premieres, underscoring the value of the festival's programming for the TV industry. As TIFF The Market takes shape, the festival is assembling a committee of industry advisors, including executives from BBC Studios and Blue Ant, to help guide its development.
