Iconic Ozark Coaster to Cease Operations in 2026

After more than three decades of operation, Silver Dollar City's celebrated Thunderation roller coaster is scheduled for retirement. The iconic runaway mine train-style coaster will cease operations at the conclusion of the 2026 season, with its final operational day being January 2, 2027.
Opened in 1993, Thunderation has provided rides for over 27 million guests on its 3,000-foot track. The park announced that the fictional Marvel Cave Mining Company requires the area for geological surveys and to resume underground mining operations.
The entire 2026 season will be dedicated to celebrating Thunderation's legacy, beginning with an opening-day ceremony on March 13. This period will feature special events, merchandise, and offers, culminating in a final sendoff on January 2, 2027.
