In a remarkable find, Jessica Vincent purchased a vase for just $3.99 at a Virginia thrift store, unaware of its significant value. The eye-catching bottle-shaped vase, featuring spiraled aqua green and amethyst purple colors, bore the "Murano" and "Italia" inscriptions.
Vincent, a horse trainer, discovered the vase's true worth after posting images in Murano glass collector groups online. She learned that such pieces are exceedingly rare and highly sought after by collectors. The vase was later identified as a design by renowned Italian architect Carlo Scarpa from a 1942 collection by Venini.
On December 13, 2023, the vase was sold by Wright Auction House for $107,100. The buyer, a European collector who chose to remain private, has added the piece to their collection. Vincent expressed hope that the spectacular vase will eventually be displayed in a museum.
