Thomas Bangalter, one half of the legendary Daft Punk, is set to release his latest musical project, 'Mirage,' this summer. This album serves as the original score for an acclaimed ballet that premiered in May 2025 at the Grand Theatre de Geneve. Bangalter collaborated with choreographer Damien Jalet and artist Kōhei Nawa to create the musical landscape for 16 dancers.
The composer describes his work as taking "a sculptural approach to sound and music." The 16 tracks on 'Mirage' are designed to mirror the "changing states" of the dancers throughout the performance, offering a unique blend of music and movement.
This is not Bangalter's first collaboration with Jalet; they previously worked together in 2024 on 'Chiroptera,' a soundtrack for a collaborative performance art piece. Despite Daft Punk's disbandment in 2021, Bangalter and his former bandmate Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo remain active in the music industry in their respective solo endeavors.
