Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is developing a new animated project titled "Thisby Thestoop," based on the popular middle-grade fantasy book series by Zac Gorman. The screenwriting duo Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman are adapting the first book, "Thisby Thestoop and the Black Mountain," for the screen.
The fantasy adventure centers on a young heroine who serves as the gamekeeper of a vast, creature-filled dungeon. The story is expected to combine elements of fantasy, humor, and heartfelt character development, drawing from the praise the original book received.
The book series by Gorman was recognized as a 2018 Cybils Awards Finalist and a 2021 Washington Library Association Sasquatch Book Award Nominee. Gorman's prior animation work includes contributing to the Emmy-winning series "Over the Garden Wall" and character design for Nickelodeon's "Welcome to the Wayne."
