Tharoor Shuts Down Paid Review Allegations for Praising 'Bads of Bollywood'

On October 26, 2025, Indian politician Shashi Tharoor posted a positive review of Aryan Khan's new web series 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood', which he had been recommended by his sister. Tharoor, who was recovering from an illness, had binge-watched the series and thoroughly enjoyed its premise.
However, one internet user accused Tharoor of writing a "paid review" for the show. Responding to the troll, Tharoor firmly stated, "I am not for sale, my friend. No opinion I express has ever been paid for by anybody, in cash or in kind."
The same person later apologized, saying Tharoor's review coming from a Malayali (someone from the Indian state of Kerala) made it seem like a paid endorsement, though he acknowledged Tharoor was entitled to his own opinion. Author Sanjay Lazar also defended Tharoor's review, calling the series "brilliant" and congratulating Aryan Khan and his father, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Tharoor had praised 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood' as "absolute #OTT GOLD", highlighting the sharp writing, fearless direction, and "audacious satire" that the show offered. He believed it was just what Bollywood needed, providing a "genius, often hilarious, sometimes moving, and always unflinching look beyond the glamour."
