This significant collaboration was officially announced, marking a new milestone for the acclaimed composer known for his chart-topping work in Telugu and Tamil cinema. The film's production has been a lengthy journey, encountering several obstacles including legal challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic, and scheduling conflicts, which pushed its timeline significantly.
Filming for 'Ottakomban' commenced in December 2024 and resumed in April 2025 after a brief interruption due to Suresh Gopi's duties as a Union minister. The movie, directed by Mathews Thomas, stars Suresh Gopi as the formidable Kadavakkunnel Kuruvachan, a character reportedly inspired by a real individual. The ensemble cast is extensive, featuring Abhinaya in the female lead role and a host of other actors.
Produced under the Sree Gokulam Movies banner, 'Ottakomban' is being filmed across scenic locales in Kerala and Hong Kong. The makers expressed great enthusiasm for bringing a composer of Thaman S's caliber to Malayalam cinema through this ambitious project. The film replaces Harshavardhan Rameshwar, known for his work on 'Animal', as the music director.
