Summary
- Soapbox race event returns to Telford next summer.
- Previous event drew 7,000 spectators and 26 teams.
- Over £10,000 raised for local charities last year.
The popular Krazy Races soapbox derby is set to return to Telford Town Park next summer, on July 11. This charity event invites participants to design, build, and race their own soapbox karts.
The inaugural event last year was a resounding success, attracting approximately 7,000 spectators and 26 competing teams. It celebrated "racing, outrageous costumes and creative homemade karts," according to Telford & Wrekin Council.
Significantly, the spectacle successfully raised over £10,000 for various local good causes. A substantial portion of these funds benefited headline charity Lingen Davies Cancer Support's Sunflower Appeal.
Applications are now being accepted from a wide range of groups, including local businesses, schools, colleges, community organizations, charities, families, and friends. Team spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and demand is expected to be high, as all places sold out months before this year's race.
