In November 2025, Telangana's flagship cultural event, the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival, will mark its 20th edition with a special focus on bridging the gap between established icons and rising stars of the performing arts. Spread across three weekends, the milestone festival in Hyderabad will present a spectacular lineup that brings together legendary veterans and promising new talent.
On one end of the spectrum, the stage will be graced by acclaimed actors such as Mohan Agashe, Anupam Kher, and Sharmila Tagore, alongside accomplished writers like Shobha De and Mahesh Elkunchwar. Crucially, this edition of the festival will also introduce the next generation of Indian theatre, with the festival debuts of Junaid Khan (son of Aamir Khan) and Zahan Kapur (grandson of Shashi Kapoor), as well as emerging artists like Anirudh Sarkar and Faizeh Jalali.
The festival's global footprint is maintained with the inclusion of a group from Norway, Karen Houge. Curator and Designer Padmashri Mohammad Ali Baig, a celebrated actor and director, views this generational shift as a fitting tribute to his father, the late theatre legend Qadir Ali Baig, who envisioned Hyderabad as a vibrant hub for the performing arts.
