Mirai Underperforms in Hindi Belt Despite Overall Box Office Success in India
12 Oct
Summary
- Mirai, starring Teja Sajja, was a box office success in India overall
- But the film disappointed in the Hindi-speaking market, earning only 16.85 crores
- Mirai lagged behind other recent Hindi-dubbed South films like Coolie and Kantara

As of October 12, 2025, the fantasy action adventure film Mirai, starring Teja Sajja, has proven to be an overall box office success in India. However, the film's performance in the Hindi-speaking market has been disappointing.
Mirai was released in 5 languages and has accumulated 94.39 crores net at the box office across all markets in its 30-day run. But in the Hindi belt alone, the film has managed to earn only 16.85 crores, much lower than other recent Hindi-dubbed South Indian hits like Coolie (37.25 crores), Game Changer (37.47 crores), and Kantara Chapter 1 (131.57 crores).
Despite favorable word-of-mouth, Mirai failed to attract the desired footfalls in the Hindi-speaking regions. The producers, People Media Factory, are reported to have spent 20-30 crores on the Hindi release, but have only recovered 56-84% of the budget, making it a losing affair for them in that market.
In contrast, Teja Sajja's previous release, HanuMan, had gained a superhit verdict in the Hindi belt with lifetime earnings of 58 crores in 2024. Unfortunately, Mirai could not replicate that success and remained 71% lower than HanuMan's Hindi performance.
