Chrissy Teigen and John Legend recently took part in the 36th Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, held in New York City's East Village. Their pet food brand, Kismet, served as a presenting sponsor for the event.
Legend and Teigen, along with author Fern Watt, led the parade of costumed dogs. The couple expressed a deep personal connection to the East Village, recounting how Tompkins Square Park was where they first brought their dog Puddy, who later inspired them to create Kismet.
Inspired by Puddy, their first dog together, they built Kismet around fostering community and celebrating the love between people and their pets. They hoped to see creative, "ripped from the headline" costumes among the canine participants.
The parade featured a costume contest, with Kwame Stewart, Kismet's chief veterinary officer, serving as a judge. Snickers, dressed as Jalen Brunson, ultimately won the "Best in Canine Costume" title.
