Greenwich Entertainment has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for "The Friend's House Is Here," a drama that premiered at Sundance. This Alma Linda Films production was written, directed, and produced by Maryam Ataei and Hossein Keshavarz.
The film earned a Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast at Sundance, where it had its U.S. premiere. It tells the story of two young women who create a world of art and sisterhood in Tehran's underground scene.
Production faced immense challenges, including being shot in secret in Tehran last summer. A hard drive containing the film was transported across the border into Turkey through multiple security checkpoints to reach Sundance.
This film is set to be released in theaters across the U.S. this fall. The directors expressed joy in working with Greenwich to bring their story to a wider audience after its incredible journey.
