Tegan and Sara have released two festive new songs, "I Love Christmas" and "A December to Remember," bringing a wave of holiday spirit. These musical offerings are designed to appeal to a broad audience, including those who may not typically embrace the Christmas season.
Tegan expressed her deep affection for the holidays, decorating with three Christmas trees and watching festive movies daily throughout December. The songs were initially conceived during the development of Tegan and Sara's 2024 graphic novel, Crush, in collaboration with Kate Cooper. Tegan decided to revisit and refine them after completing her middle-grade novel, Merry Christmess, which was released in September.
Acknowledging that many view Christmas as overly commercialized, Tegan highlighted her genuine love for its traditions, nostalgia, and the opportunity for shared memories. She emphasized that the songs are inclusive, aiming to provide holiday cheer even for those who find the season disagreeable, stating she's happy to "love it for you."
