Through REN__, Bego learns about 'shifting,' a practice where teenagers believe they can enter alternate realities via lucid dreaming. This unique aspect intertwines with the film's exploration of female identity and the coming-of-age experience.
Lucila Mariani's debut feature, "The Days Off," is set to world premiere on August 7. It will be presented in the Filmmakers of the Present Competition at the 79th Locarno Film Festival. The film is an international co-production.
This cinematic work is a collaborative effort between Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and France. Director Mariani describes the film as a personal exploration of horror, female identity, and the evolving relationship between humans and technology. She views the internet as a formative space for self-discovery and dreaming.
