Jason Sudeikis, who plays the titular character in the acclaimed Apple TV comedy Ted Lasso, has confirmed his return for a fourth season, set to premiere on August 5. This decision marks a shift from his previous stance that the story had concluded after Season 3 in 2023.

Sudeikis initially felt Ted Lasso's arc was complete, with the character returning home to his son. Despite substantial offers, he resisted continuing, stating the narrative felt finished and it wouldn't make sense to uproot the character for financial reasons. The series itself was a massive success, earning 13 Emmy Awards and significant viewership.

However, Sudeikis later realized the show's positive influence on him and its fans. He found the character's optimistic outlook infectious and beneficial to inhabit. This personal connection, rather than contractual obligations, spurred his change of heart.

Season 4 will pick up three years after the events of the third season. A key change will see Ted Lasso coaching AFC Richmond's newly formed all-female team, introducing new players and a fresh dynamic to the beloved series. Many original cast members, including Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein, are also expected to return.
