Ted Danson has stated he will apologize for the rest of his life for his 1993 blackface performance at the roast of Whoopi Goldberg. He explained that the idea for the blackface performance originated from frustration with racially charged press coverage of his affair with Goldberg. Danson emphasized that he was not excusing his younger self's actions but wanted to apologize for the hurt caused. He recounted how he felt compelled to perform at the Friars Club roast after being told he couldn't back out, leading to what he now calls an arrogant and foolish decision.
