Swift, alongside collaborator Jack Antonoff, aimed to honor the legacy of composer Randy Newman, expressing deep respect for his distinct musical sensibilities. Swift stated that she and Antonoff endeavored to channel Newman's unique chord progressions and artistic approach in their composition.

Further demonstrating her connection to the Toy Story franchise, Swift joined Randy Newman onstage at the film's premiere. Together, they performed Newman's iconic song "You've Got a Friend in Me," with Swift and Newman sharing vocal duties. The single "I Knew It, I Knew You" achieved remarkable success on country radio, debuting at the top of the Hot Country Songs chart and securing the Number Eight position on the Country Airplay chart. It also made history by becoming the first song by a female artist to achieve a "panel on impact" in its first week.
