Taylor Swift Overcomes Dance Insecurities, Wows Fans on Eras Tour
27 Oct
Summary
- Taylor Swift hired choreographer Mandy Moore to improve her dancing
- Swift was insecure about her dancing abilities before the Eras Tour
- Moore helped Swift fine-tune her natural movement and build confidence
In the lead-up to her 2023 global Eras Tour, pop superstar Taylor Swift wanted to improve her dancing skills. According to an interview with choreographer Mandy Moore published last month, Swift had "gotten a bad rap for a long time about her dancing" and was "really in her head" about her abilities.
To address this, Swift hired Moore to work with her and help build her confidence. Moore says they focused on "how movement was already manifesting in her body" and then fine-tuned Swift's technique, providing feedback like "that looks a little weird with your shoulders" or "let's straighten your knee here."
The hard work paid off, as Swift's Eras Tour has been widely praised for her impressive dance numbers. Fans went wild for her sultry, serpentine moves during the Reputation set, as well as her sexy Chicago-esque chair dance for "Vigilante Shit." Moore says she "really admires Taylor's tenacity" and that the pop star was "very clear about what she wants."

Swift has continued collaborating with Moore, including creating TikTok-worthy choreography for her latest single "The Fate of Ophelia." In the behind-the-scenes film for the song's music video, Swift can be seen perfecting her dance moves, telling the crew at one point, "Can I just try to be a little bit better?"
