27 May
Summary
- An 8-year-old fan sent a paper airplane note to her neighbor.
- The neighbor played Taylor Swift's "Love Story" in response.
- Taylor Swift sent signed guitars to both the fan and the musician.
An 8-year-old Swiftie named Madeline received an extraordinary surprise after a simple gesture of kindness caught Taylor Swift's attention. Madeline, who was too shy to ask her neighbor, musician Ethan Hayes, directly, sent a paper airplane with a note requesting a Taylor Swift song. Hayes responded by playing Swift's hit "Love Story."
Madeline's mother, Natalie Hulec, recorded the sweet exchange and posted it on TikTok, where the video garnered nearly 4 million views. The viral clip ultimately reached Taylor Swift herself.
In response to the heartwarming video, Swift sent signed guitars to both Madeline and Ethan Hayes. She also included a personalized, handwritten letter for Madeline, expressing how much the gesture had delighted her and encouraging her musical aspirations.
Hayes described the surprise as "insane," admitting he initially thought he might receive a signed poster. Swift's team had secretly contacted him about the gift before it arrived. Madeline's reaction to the gift was simply, "Thank you."
