In a recent interview, global pop icon Taylor Swift shared the backstory behind her new song "Elizabeth Taylor." According to Swift, the inspiration came from a clip her parents sent her of Elizabeth Taylor's son making flattering comments about the singer.
"He said if there were one person he might compare to his mother in the modern day, in terms of persona and...the chaos around us, he said it would be me," the 35-year-old artist explained. Feeling flattered, Swift immediately started discussing Elizabeth Taylor with her fiancé, Travis Kelce. She was "going on and on" about the legendary actress, talking about all the things she admired, including how Taylor "kept challenging herself late into her life."
The conversation was so inspiring that Swift had to get out of the car to quickly record the melody for what would become "Elizabeth Taylor." She then got back in the car, and the song was born. The track is set to appear on Swift's upcoming album, where she explores her "emotions and issues with fame through the lens of cosplaying the life of Elizabeth Taylor."
