Summary
- Video shows Taylor Paul attacking Dakota Mortensen in 2023.
- A barstool struck Paul's daughter during the violent altercation.
- Ex-husband learned truth of the incident via leaked video.

Taylor Frankie Paul's ex-husband, Tate Paul, was reportedly kept in the dark about a violent incident involving Paul and Dakota Mortensen that occurred three years ago.
New video footage from 2023 shows the television personality, known for "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," engaging in a physical altercation with Mortensen. The fight escalated when Paul threw metal barstools, one of which struck her then 5-year-old daughter, Indy, causing injury.
Despite the child's distress, Paul continued her fight with Mortensen. She was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple domestic violence and child abuse offenses. Paul accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to aggravated assault, and was placed on probation.
Sources indicate that Utah's Division of Children and Family Services was aware of the incident but did not remove Paul's older children from her custody, citing a policy against removal unless there is immediate danger. The agency determined the child was not the intended target of the thrown barstool.
Tate Paul, seeking full custody of their two children at the time, later regained 50 percent custody after Taylor agreed to alcohol education and various exams. He was allegedly not shown the video by authorities and Taylor reportedly denied hitting a child with the barstool.
Upon seeing the leaked video, Tate Paul expressed outrage, stating he would have pushed for harsher charges if he had known the full details. He has since filed for protective orders against Taylor, with it currently unknown if he will pursue full custody again.
