Taraji P. Henson to Star in New Amazon Drama 'Whiskey Matriarch'

Taraji P. Henson is attached to star in and executive produce 'Whiskey Matriarch,' a new drama series developed by Amazon. The project, which has kept plot details confidential, was sold to the streamer competitively.

Alesia Dangerfield, an up-and-coming writer, created the series and will also serve as a writer and executive producer. Sisters Attica and Tembi Locke, known for co-creating Netflix's 'From Scratch,' are also writing and executive producing.

Malcolm D. Lee is directing and executive producing alongside Dominique Telson. Henson's production company, TPH Entertainment, is involved, alongside Blackmaled and Third Road Production. Dangerfield's previous writing credits include Paramount+'s 'The Game.' The Locke sisters are currently showrunners for Peacock's 'Before I Let Go' and previously worked on Henson's Fox drama 'Empire.'
