The 72nd Taormina Film Festival, scheduled for June 10-14, will showcase a diverse cinematic program, blending popular films with artistic fare. Top talents including Helen Mirren, Russell Crowe, and Gore Verbinsky are expected to attend the renowned Sicilian event.
Russell Crowe will present the world premiere of the Australian action thriller 'Bear Country,' directed by Derrick Borte, which features Crowe as a club owner whose life is disrupted. Gore Verbinsky will present his sci-fi comedy 'Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die' in competition.
Jane Campion, a two-time Academy Award winner, will lead the festival's jury, further enhancing its international prestige. The jury also includes notable figures like Holly Hunter and casting director Francine Maisler. Helen Mirren is set to be honored with a lifetime achievement award, and Scott Eastwood will receive an award and conduct a masterclass.
The festival opener will be the Italian premiere of the first episode of HBO's 'House of the Dragon' Season 3. Other highlights include a restored screening of Luchino Visconti's classic 'Bellissima' and an honor for Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore for his docufilm 'Brunello: The Gracious Visionary.'
