Tanya Reynolds: From Sci-Fi Writer to Ted Lasso Coach

Tanya Reynolds, previously recognized for her role as Lily Iglehart in Netflix's Sex Education, is making a significant addition to the cast of the popular series Ted Lasso. She will portray Alice, an assistant coach, in the upcoming season.

Reynolds recently experienced a notable theatrical engagement, starring in a play that saw esteemed guests such as Meryl Streep and Martin Short in attendance. This production was also co-produced by Margot Robbie, who Reynolds described as 'like a painting that's come to life.'

Despite initially being a self-proclaimed hermit who had missed the previous seasons of Ted Lasso, Reynolds accepted the audition for the role of coach Alice. She found the character to be a departure from her previous work, noting the contrast between her own perceived personality and Alice's initial tough exterior. The actress expressed her admiration for Ted Lasso's positive and communicative approach, especially in contrast to the prevalence of violence in media.

Beyond her television and theater work, Reynolds is also venturing into directing and starring in her own film, 'Dog Person,' which is expected to shoot this year. The film follows a woman exhausted by life who develops a desire to be a dog. Reynolds also shared her passion for the arts, lamenting the decline of drama in schools and advocating for its importance in children's development.
