Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival Showcases Boundary-Breaking Documentaries

The 2025 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) has announced its selection of documentaries for the upcoming Doc@PÖFF International and Baltic competitions. This year's lineup features a diverse range of stories, from family relationships and traditional ways of life to politics and war, set across the globe.

Notably, the festival will feature Baltic documentaries and feature films competing in separate programs for the first time. According to the organizers, "Many of them also portray women who dare to dream big despite restrictive and challenging circumstances."

Curator Marianna Kaat praised the films, stating, "The films in the Doc@PÖFF program open a restless world where bold, author-driven works captivate with their search for balance and understanding -- and demonstrate that documentaries can be even more engaging than fiction."

The juries for both the international and Baltic documentary competitions include renowned industry professionals, such as producer Tania El Khoury, Estonian producer Marianne Ostrat, and German filmmaker Daniel Abma, among others.
