Talking Heads Box Set: Music's Timeless Truth

Rhino has meticulously reissued the entire Talking Heads studio catalog in an eight-disc DualDisc CD/DVD collection, titled 'The Brick'. This comprehensive set offers remastered audio, ensuring the albums sound superior to previous CD releases and even rivaling original vinyl. Each DualDisc contains bonus tracks and video content on the DVD side, including all of the band's music videos.

Emerging from New York City's punk scene, Talking Heads distinguished themselves with their eclectic, art-pop sound. Their music, particularly lyrics like "How did I get here?" from "Once in a Lifetime," presciently captures the anxieties of the information age and consumer culture.

The reissue emphasizes the pristine remastering of the albums, with early works like "77" and "More Songs About Buildings and Food" sounding particularly vibrant. The set also includes extensive bonus material, such as live footage and rare tracks from early sessions, notably augmenting "77."

Beyond the music, the collection showcases the band's early mastery of the video format, with all their music videos included. Videos like "Love for Sale" are highlighted for their creative use of commercial imagery. The bonus content, while not always essential, provides valuable insight into the band's creative process and history.
