Summary
- Inspired by Taiwan's forestry and railway history
- Explores a story that crosses boundaries of geography, gender, and culture
- Aims to connect with industry professionals for distribution on Japanese platforms

In 2025, the upcoming Taiwanese-Japanese series "Love Ends in Bloom" is set to begin filming in February 2027, targeting a mid-2028 release. The series, a collaboration between executive producer Chang Chen-yu and screenwriter Juliana Hsu, blends history, romance, and cross-cultural storytelling.
The project was sparked by Chang's trip back to his hometown of Chiayi in 2023, where he found the city's railway station under renovation, triggering memories of Taiwan's forestry and railway history. Hsu's passion for history helped shape the series' foundation, as she conducted extensive research to position Taiwan within the broader context of East Asian history.
"Love Ends in Bloom" explores a story that crosses boundaries of geography, gender, morality, class, and culture, weaving themes of resistance and awakening into a hauntingly beautiful romance. Set during the Japanese colonial period, the series portrays a world built by men yet seen through the eyes of a Japanese woman.
As the team prepares to invite directors from both Taiwan and Japan, they aim to connect with industry professionals and position the bilingual Taiwanese-Japanese series for distribution on major Japanese streaming platforms. The series reflects on the shifting roles of Asian countries on the global stage, offering a unique narrative that challenges the traditional boundaries of storytelling.
