Singapore-based Mokster Films and Taiwan's D-Day Pictures are collaborating on the upcoming Taiwanese horror film, 'Revive'. Directed by Danny Tseng, the project delves into themes of grief, technology, and the unknown, marking a significant feature debut for the acclaimed short filmmaker. Mokster Films is also managing international sales and will present the film to buyers at Cannes.
'Revive' centers on a struggling artist who, after her estranged mother's death, turns to 'REVIVE,' a cutting-edge funerary service capable of restoring the deceased. While the service revives her stalled career, it subtly diminishes her sense of identity. This psychological shift leads to a series of unexplained tragedies, prompting her to doubt the true identity of the presence influencing her life.
The film has already garnered recognition, securing awards at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) and the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion (FPP). Production is slated to begin in Taiwan toward the end of 2026. Producers aim to explore how technology reshapes our perception of memory and loss, potentially leading to dangerous distortions of reality.
