Barrett's sister, Rosemary Breen, expressed that Syd would have been honored by the continued enjoyment of his music in Cambridge. The concert will take place at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, the same venue where Barrett gave his final live performance on February 24, 1972. Organizers emphasize Barrett's enduring influence on music and creativity across generations.
In addition to the concert, a double album featuring new and unreleased material by Syd Barrett will be released on October 9th. An exhibition exploring his life, art, and cultural impact is also planned. All funds raised from these events will be donated to mental health charities, a cause wholeheartedly supported by Barrett's family.
