The upcoming film Swayambhu, starring Nikhil Siddhartha, is setting a new benchmark for scale by constructing three massive, distinct worlds. Director Bharat Krishnamachari revealed that these worlds were built across three different locations to maintain a cohesive yet grand visual narrative for the travel-action-adventure film.
The first world involved building a complete village set from the ground up on 6 to 8 acres of land in Janwada, Hyderabad. This meticulous construction took approximately 40 to 45 days, emphasizing attention to detail and authenticity.
A second world was conceptualized for the heroine's storyline. This set was extensively refurbished and reimagined from the original village set, given a unique identity while aligning with the film's overall visual language.
The most ambitious undertaking was the climax sequence, filmed over 70 to 80 days at Annapurna Studios. This involved constructing large-scale indoor sets, including two significant bridges, one of which was 100 feet long and 12 feet wide, built using bluemat techniques for a climactic destruction scene. A massive mountain set with a detailed pathway was also created.
Set during India's golden era, Swayambhu features breathtaking visuals and intense drama. The film boasts a top-tier technical team, including composer Ravi Basrur and cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar. Filming spanned 170 days, making it one of the most ambitious productions. Swayambhu is slated for a worldwide release in Summer 2026.
